Birth certificates of the bride and groom have been made mandatory for the marriage at the Chandannath temple in Jumla.

In order to prevent child marriage, those who get married in the temple are required to bring a certificate of clear identity.

According to Ratna Prasad Acharya, Nayabsubba of Chandannath Bhairavnath Guthi Samiti, the concept of the compulsory birth certificate has been put forward in the temple after the recent complaints of the carelessness of temple.

The concept was organized after there was numerous complaint against temple authorities related to child marriage and eloping.

The committee has stated that only those who have reached the legal age are coming to get married.
