The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has decided to ban the consumption of tobacco products in public places from Asoj 1.

The notice issued by the KMC on Thursday stated, “From Asoj 1 the consumption of cigarettes, bidis, cigars, chewing tobacco, smokeless tobacco or other similar substances in public places is prohibited.”

If found smoking in public places, the person will be expelled from the public place or fined as prescribed by the Tobacco Products (Control and Regulatory) Act, 2011 for violating the law.

Meanwhile, on the same day during its demolition drive, the KMC used dozer in the periphery of QFX Jaya Nepal located near Narayanhiti Palace to find Tukucha Khola. After digging four to five meters down the earth from the parking area of QFX, the Tukuche Khola became visible. The Khola has been encroached by many private and governmental buildings which flows toward Kamaladi from the QFX.
